Our New Home

Two decades. More than 13,000 kids. Three different homes.

Over the past two decades, Destiny has grown from a conversation between its three founders into a thriving, growing program that serves more than 3,000 youth, ages 3-18. In a world where escalating violence among young people is a growing problem, Destiny offers a unique solution that makes a real, lasting impact in the lives of our youth – and in our community.

In the last 8 years, we’ve moved three times as we outgrew spaces or leases ended. Each time we move we waste valuable resources that could go towards our young people. And each time we move we lose touch with kids we know really need us.

That’s why Destiny Arts Center needs a long-term place to call home. And why your generous contribution matters so much to us, to the youth of Destiny, and to the community we serve.

Destiny’s ideal home will strengthen our connections with and commitment to our East Bay Community. It will be a refuge where young people are encouraged and fostered as they learn to navigate conflict without resorting to violence.

We will do so much more in a stable location that’s built with our programs in mind where our young people know they can always find us. And we will do so much more of our most important work: teaching youth how to prevent violence and resolve conflict peacefully.

We’re now in contract negotiations to purchase our nearly 10,000-square-foot home in North Oakland.

This space is designed to maximize our programs, with multiple, flexible spaces including:

  • Three to four studios designed for performances, theater, yoga, aerial dance and martial arts classes
  • A homework area that doubles as a lounge for parents and students
  • Locker rooms with changing areas
  • A conference room
  • Comfortable seating/meeting spaces
  • High ceilings, skylights, and exposed brick walls
In this space, Destiny will have a beautiful home in which to support our young people as they find positive pathways through life’s challenges.
