How to Register for School Year Classes
Destiny classes will begin on Monday, October 14th at our brand new North Oakland facility! Please refer to our upcoming class schedule.
FOR FULL CLASSES, PLEASE FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW AND SUBMIT COMPLETED REGISTRATION TO BE INCLUDED ON A WAIT LIST.
Registration is required for all students. We are happy to offer one free trial class for new students when space is available in the class. Students are not considered registered until all completed materials and payment are received. Classes do fill quickly, please submit completed paperwork and payment to ensure placement.
STEPS FOR REGISTERING STUDENTS NEW TO DESTINY
- 1. Go to our online registration site to create a family profile with your contact information and waive the $10 registration fee!
- 2. Download: NEW STUDENT FORM
- 3. Fill out and submit* the New Student Registration Form along with payment for the first month of classes in order to secure a spot in a class.
STEPS FOR REGISTERING RETURNING DESTINY STUDENTS

*Completed forms can only be emailed to us as we are in the process of moving into our new facility and the office will be closed from Monday, August 26 through Friday, September 6 . Uniforms are required for participation and are available for purchase at our center. Please refer to class descriptions for required uniforms.
As a non-profit organization with a mission-driven value to provide access for all families to our programs, Destiny Arts Center’s classes are offered on sliding-scale ($12-$180) monthly payments, per child, per program track. We empower families to choose their dues amount. Please note that for two classes per week, comparable local programs cost about $90 per month, and the true cost to us as an organization is about $135 per month. Please refer to the chart below when considering your monthly membership dues and contribute generously.
All Destiny Arts Center classes are arranged according to two tracks: Performing Arts (all dance classes) and Martial Arts. Students can register for one or both tracks, and pay a sliding scale fee of $12-180 for each program track. Within each track, students are able to take an unlimited amount of classes appropriate to their age group. Please see Classes and Camps for more detailed descriptions.
In order to receive the full benefit of our programs, we strongly advise all students to participate in both tracks. For students ages 7 and up, we recommend participating in each track for a minimum of 2 days per week.
Once registered, membership fees are due each month. All families are strongly encouraged to establish an “auto-pay,” or automatic monthly payment, from a Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card. Refunds are not guaranteed and are considered on a case-by-case basis only. Please refer to the registration form, or contact the office for more details.
Policies and Releases
All releases and waivers must be completed and are included in the registration documents:
Early Arrival Policy
Students should arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to the start time of their first class. Once a student arrives at Destiny Arts Center they are not permitted to leave until the completion of their class day or by parent/caregiver consent. Students should arrive prepared for class with required uniforms and any food, water or gear they require.
Enrollment Guarantee Policy
Registration and regular attendance is required for all students. We are happy to offer free trial classes to new students, but enrollment is not guaranteed until completed registration materials and payment are submitted. Enrollment may be suspended or terminated for poor attendance or nonpayment. If you plan to be absent, or are unable to pay your monthly dues, please contact program staff at our office as soon as possible to make any necessary arrangements.
Penalties and Refunds Policy
Refunds are not guaranteed and are considered on a case-by-case basis. A $20 fee for returned checks or late payments will be assessed.
Destiny Arts Center expects parents/caregivers or an authorized person to pick-up students no later than 15 minutes after the end of their class day. We will call the primary contact after 15 minutes and will place calls to the secondary contact and the emergency contact listed until we reach someone. If a child is not picked up within an hour of their class ending we will consider this Child Neglect and will contact the Oakland Police Department at (510) 777-3333.
Student Leave Policy
Destiny Arts Center must receive prior parent/caregiver permission for a student to walk or take public transportation when departing at the end of their class day. Destiny Arts Center is not responsible for these students once they leave the building.
Waiver of Liability
I give permission for my child(ren) to attend and participate in Destiny Arts Center programs and classes. I understand that Destiny Arts Center Programs are high impact and involve physical contact and therefore I release Destiny Arts Center and its instructors of legal responsibility for accidents or injuries incurred while participating in Destiny Arts Center Programs. I agree to hold Destiny Arts Center harmless for such accidents or injuries. In the unlikely event of an accident requiring emergency care, Destiny Arts Center will make every reasonable effort to contact me before medical services are given to my child(ren). If I cannot be reached, I designate a Destiny Arts Center staff member to act on my behalf in the event of a medical emergency by authorizing hospitalization and medical attention as may be required. I assume full financial responsibility and hold Destiny Arts Center harmless for any medical services provided.
I give permission for Destiny Arts Center to use photos or video footage of my child(ren) listed above for publicity and educational purposes both in print and on the internet.
Camp DESTINY 2014!
Camp DESTINY 2014 is coming alive with three, 1-week sessions for 7-12 year olds (one week maximum per camper). Each week of camp is offered for a sliding-scale payment of $50 – $300 per child, empowering families to choose how much they are able to contribute and support their community. We also offer optional pre-care, starting at 8am for $25, as well as after-care continuing until 6pm for a sliding scale payment of $25 – $100. Families must also purchase a Destiny t-shirt ($15) for their child(ren).
TO SECURE A SPOT IN CAMP DESTINY FAMILIES MUST COMPLETE ALL THREE STEPS:
For youth who have never attended a Destiny camp or class
1. Create a profile with your contact information at our online registration site
For all youth
2. Download the Camp Destiny Information Form to your computer, save and fill it out then return it via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, mail or in person
3. Pay a non-refundable deposit of $50 per child, per week of camp

Full payment for each week of camp is due on the first day of that camp week (Monday @ 9am). Payments made beyond the $50 deposit may be refunded by request up until 2 weeks prior to the start of camp.
