Youth and Community Development

We are honored to have contributed to this important new work in the field of arts education. Our article, Community-Based Afterschool and Summer Arts Education Programs: Positive Impact on Youth and Community Development discusses best practices in strengthening communities featuring Destiny Arts Center as a model for connecting, strengthening and building communities. Co-authored by our very own DAYPC alumna Tilly Reclosado, Executive Director Cristy Johnston Limon and Lauren Stevenson of Junctionbox Consulting, the article is part of a new book featuring more than 100 leaders in the field. Scholars, practitioners  researches and thought leaders contributed their thoughts on the infrastructure, impact and future of afterschool and expanded learning opportunities in this compendium of essays directly from the field. These compelling essays individually share unique perspectives, critical research and proven strategies; together the writings tell the story of a movement.
